CTET in Chandigarh



To ensure that persons appointed as teacher have required ability and aptitude for teaching Elementary,  Secondary and Secondary levels. The Department of education   of all states as well as central government has introduced TET (Teacher Eligibility Test). TET is essential qualification for a person to be appointed as  a teacher in any of the state run schools a school run by central government. State TET like Punjab state TET (PSTET), HTET, HPTET etc are conducted by board of education at state level where as  CTET is conducted by CBSE Delhi.The purpose for including TET as min. qualification for a person to be appointed as teacher is:-
  • It would bring teachers quality and efficient teachers according to national standards.
  • It would send positive signal to people that government emphasizes on teacher quality.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Min educational qualification for paper 1 (class 1 to 5)  primary stage.
10+2 or equivalent with min 50% aggregate and passed / appearing in 2 year diploma of elementary education.

Or
10+2 or equivalent with min 45% aggregate and appearing / passed 2 year diploma in elementary education in accordance with NCTE regulation 2002.

Or
10+2 with min 50% aggregate and passed/ appearing in 4 year bachelor of elementary education (B. El. Ed)

Or
10+2 with min 50% marks and passed/ appearing in 2 year diploma in education (Special Education)

Or
Graduation and passed / appearing in 2 year diploma of elementary education.

Qualification  for paper 2 (class 6 to 8) Elementary Stage.
Graduation and passed / appearing in final year of 2 year diploma in elementary education.

Or
Graduation with min 50% marks of passed / appearing in 1 year bachelor in  education (B. Ed)

Or
Graduation with 45% marks of passed / appearing in (B. Ed ) accordance with NCTE.

Or
S Sec with at 50% marks of passed / appearing in 4 year bachelor of elementary education (B. El. Ed)

Or
Graduation with attest 50% marks of passed / appearing in B. Ed.

Q 1. What is Teacher eligibility test (TET)? 
It is a route / way to standardize quality of teachers appointed in school so as to provide quality education to students.It was started in 2011 by central government in form of CTET as an essential requirement to teach in center government schools. After that states have also started conducting state TET for appointment of teachers in state aided school.

Q 2. Why is TET important?
Acc. To central government, TET is mandatory to get a job in any school (Government, private, aided and unaided)
Q 3.  How many tines CTET is conducted?
Twice  a year.
Q 4.  Structure  and mode of paper?
Paper consists of multiple choice questions.
Q 5.  Validity  period of CTET certificate?
 7year.
Q 6.  How many times a person can appear for CTET exam?
 No limit.
Q 7.  Qualification marks for CTET?

  General     =    60% & above marks=    i.e.  90/150 or above
   SC / ST, OBC = According to resonation criteria.

Only TET qualified teacher can apply for government school, aided and unaided schools.

APPLICABILITY
CTET is applicable for all schools under central government KVS, NVS, Central tibelian Schools etc.
It is also applicable for schools under  administration of UTS of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar, Haveli, Daman & Diu and Andaman & Nicobar  islands and NCT of Delhi
CTET may also apply to private schools. Private schools may also consider state level TET.
State government owned schools can also consider CTET if they decide
not to conduct
state TET.
