Details for the AFCAT 1 2015:
  • Start of submission of forms: 06th December 2014
  • Last Date for submission: 06th January 2015.
  • Mode of Application: Online Only
  • Exam Date: The exam is tentative to be held on the last Sunday of February 2015.
  • Results: The results for AFCAT 1 2015 can be expected by end of March 2015.

AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test)
Indian Air Force invites application to join the Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches

IMPORTANT POINTS:
  • This National level exam held twice a year. Boys and girls from any stream of graduation can apply. Students in 4th SEM of graduation and BE students in 6th SEM can apply and any PG also can apply.
  • No %age criteria in 12th, minimum 60% required in graduation.
  • For Flying Branch:12th with PCM required only ; for Technical Branch: BE required; for Ground Duties Branch; Graduation/PG in any stream.
  • Any number of chances can be availed till the age of 24.
  • Candidates applying for Technical Branch have to pass in EKT also.

Eligibility Criteria:
1) Flying Branch:

Age: 19 to 23 years as on 01st July, 2014 (born between 02nd July, 1992 to 01st July, 1996) both dates inclusive. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 25 years (born between 02nd July, 1990 to 01st July, 1996) both dates inclusive
                   Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E./B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together.

2) Technical Branch
Age: 18 to 28 years as on 01st July, 2015 (born between 02nd July, 1987 to 01st July, 1997) both dates inclusive Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
                   Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies All candidates applying for AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

3) Ground Duty Branch

Age: (As on 01st July 2015)
For Graduate: 20 to 23 years (age limit)
For Post Graduate/LLB (Five years integrated course): 20 to 25 years (age limit)
For LLB (Three years course after Graduation): 20 to 26 years (age limit)
Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a Pass Graduate Degree / equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers.
Accounts: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) (Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com) / CA/ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.

Selection Procedure:The testing would consist of three stages as given below: 

(a) Stage-I: Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing All State-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for. Those candidates who either do not qualify in State-I testing or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself
(b) State-II: Testing consisting of Psychological test, Group Test and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Five Days)
(c) For Flying Branch: Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) would be administered to eligible candidates

Syllabus of AFCAT Exam: The AFCAT is an objective test and the scheme of syllabus contains General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning & Military Aptitude. 

(a) General Awareness – History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.
(b) Verbal Ability in English – Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary. 
(c) Numerical Ability – Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest. 
(d) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test – Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability.
